Three arrested by EMPD for possession of and possible dealing in dagga

The trio was charged for possession of and possible dealing in dagga and was detained at the Benoni Police Station.

A 29-year-old man and two women, aged 19 and 25, were arrested for being in possession of dagga worth R13 300 on March 3 in Telmond Avenue, New Modder.

EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said the arrests were made by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members during the crime prevention operation in Benoni area between 1pm and 2pm.

“The two women were found in possession of 17.73g of dagga valued at R300,” said Mokheseng.

“While the members were arresting the two females, another suspicious man walked by carrying a big refuse bag. He was then stopped and searched.”

Mokheseng said the refuse bag contained 1 842g of dagga in 18 small, medium and large ziplock bags valued at R13 000.

He was also in possession of R375.

The trio was charged for possession of and possible dealing in dagga and was detained at the Benoni Police Station.

They will appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
