How to lodge a complaint against the EMPD

He said there are several options one can follow in order to lodge a complaint.

Members of the community, who wishes to lodge a complaint about the EMPD or metro police officers conduct, are at liberty to do so.

This is according to Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD acting Chief Superintendent spokesperson.

“One of the options to lodge a complaint is to phone the anti-corruption hotline in the City of Ekurhuleni which is 0800 102201,” said Mokheseng.

“Alternatively, dial 112 on the cellphone and request for SAPS anti-corruption unit, also 10111 number.”

He said during weekdays between 8am and 3.30pm, a plaintiff can walk in at the nearest EMPD precinct, after experiencing the ordeal and request to speak to a precinct commander or a ceputy/ a senior officer in charge (available at that time).

“Other option is to visit our head office, situated in Kempton Park at the corner of Long and Margaret (during week days) and request the Internal Affairs/Integrity & Standards Unit, for assistance.

“The complainant should be prepared to give/write a statement, indicating what actually transpired. The Internal Affairs team will investigate the matter, including to maintain the statement from officer/s accused of wrongdoing.

“The date will be set for a hearing and the Presiding Officer will give a verdict, considering the active and passive corruption.”

The EMPD precinct in Boksburg is situated on the corner of Bank and Adderley streets.
