Residents enjoy City Times car boot sale at the Bunny Park

This event takes place only once a month, every last Saturday of the month. Various goods are sold, such as gardening materials, food, car parts, toys, clothes, shoes, jewellery and more.

The Bunny Park Food and Craft Market and the City Times car boot sale on February 29 was an initiative to promote local goods as well as a way for business owners to showcase their trade.

The residents of Benoni came in their numbers to support the sale. Some buyers and sellers shared their views as to how important this car boot sale is to the community and how it helps people save money. For those who own businesses, this was an opportunity to connect with other business people.

The car boot sale started at 9am and ended at 2pm. This event takes place only once a month, every last Saturday of the month. Various goods are sold, such as gardening materials, food, car parts, toys, clothes, shoes, jewellery and more.

First-time attendant and Benoni resident Lovemore Chapola said it is incredible the way the car boot sale offers opportunity to the public.

“It is my first time here today, but I can already see the importance of this market. People can come here and get anything they want at a lower rate. The place is easy to find and if people do not know the location, they can check it on Google Maps,” said Lovemore.

Some of the regular customers say they save money and buy quality products.

All the store owners here are very friendly. Their food and products are good.

“I recommend people come here since it is a very good place to be,” said Hendrick Potgieter, a regular customer.

“Friends and family can come; this is a place for everyone and of all ages. There are a lot of things being sold, including toys and gardening material,” he added.

One of the business owners, Melleney Lippert, who sells spices, chutney and other braai ingredients, said this is a great environment since it has given her the chance to trade some of her homemade food.

Melleney Lippert sells spices at the car boot sale at the bunny park.

“I have different spices and braai ingredients for anyone who needs it. People can come here and show support for local businesses, but most importantly, they need to come and get what they need since everything is available,” said Melleney.

The next car boot sale will be on March 28 and everyone is invited.
