Swimmers show their mettle

Swimmers from u-7 to u-17 competed against each other in all strokes, namely, butterfly, backstroke, freestyle and individual medley, in their respective age groups.

Swift Swimming Club recently held their Ironman/Ironlady Championship at the Benoni Northerns Swimming Pool.

Boys: u-8 Tyler Krauss (6), u-10 Trevor Botha (10), u-12 Anthony van der Linden (11), u-14 Jonathan van der Slik (13), u-17 Jonathan Kabalu (16) and Open Cole O’Ccallaghan (18).

Girls: u-8 Mattae Morel (7), u-12 Nayara Pereira (12), u-14 Emma Banda (13) and u-17 Tayla Parker (17).

There were quite a few record breakers also on the day.

“The foundation of this event is based on family and fun,” explained coach Glenn Keevy.

“We use this event to bring the whole squad together to build the relationship between swimmers through fun competition

“Swimmers who place in the top three are awarded with medals and trophies.

“Parents also enjoy the event as they have the opportunity to time keep, be officials and get involved while watching their children compete.”
