R50k worth of drugs off the street

All suspects were taken to their local police stations.

During a crime-prevention operation between recently, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit officers detained four men, and narcotics worth over R50 000 were confiscated in Benoni and Brakpan.

In Benoni at around 2pm, the team picked up a 25-year-old suspect on Harpur Avenue, after 58 ziplocks of dagga valued at R800 and R770 cash was seized.

“On Sunday at 10.50am, two suspects who are 18 and 31 years of age were caught at the corner of Russel Street and Elston Avenue,” EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said.

They were found with the following:

• 34 50 millilitre bottles of cannabis oil

• 19 1.5 litre bottles containing different flavours of dagga

• 10 100 grams of cannabis balm

• 16 small, medium and large containers of dagga

• 25 dagga cigarettes valued at R50 000

• R11 553.

On Saturday in the Brakpan area at 11am, the EMPD DEU officers apprehended a 49-year-old, found in Northdene Road with 38 ziplocks and one loose plastic containing dagga, valued at R500 and R350 cash.
