Varshika Magan (IEB) obtained seven distinctions in accounting, Afrikaans, business studies, English, geography, life orientation and mathematics and was part of the top 1% of geography candidates nationally.
Ashton International College in Benoni boasted a 100% pass rate for their 2019 matrics.
The City Times spoke with IEB top achiever Varshika Magan regarding her results and plans for the future.
“I am relieved, happy and very proud of the final results I received,” she said.
“My biggest challenge was getting all my tasks done on time because I love to procrastinate.
My biggest motivators were my parents and sister and my teachers, tutors and friends were also a great help.”
Varshika will be studying towards a Bachelor in Accounting Sciences degree at the University of the Witwaterstrand.
Tamishka Naidoo (IEB) obtained seven distinctions for English, Afrikaans, life orientation, business studies, history, mathematical literacy and life sciences and was part of the top 1% of mathematical literacy candidates nationally.
Kian du Toit (CAIE) obtained nine distinctions in Afrikaans (IGCSE), biology (A level), biology (AS level), chemistry (A level), chemistry (AS level), computer science (IGCSE), history (IGCSE), mathematics (AS level) and physics (AS level).
Sherry Fang (CAIE) achieved eight distinctions for accounting (AS level), biology (AS level), chemistry (A level), chemistry (AS level), geography (IGCSE), mathematics (AS level), physics (A level), physics (AS level).
Amy Lubbers (IEB) received six distinctions for English, Afrikaans, geography, life orientation, life sciences, physical sciences and was part of the top 1% of geography candidates nationally.
Sarah van Velzen (CAIE) received eight distinctions for Afrikaans (IGCSE), biology (AS level), chemistry (A level), chemistry (AS level), history (IGCSE), English and literature (AS level), mathematics (AS level) and physics (AS level).
Zaahid Seedat (IEB) achieved six distinctions for French, geography, life sciences, life orientation, mathematics and physical sciences.
