Police warn about motorbike theft

All cases of theft of motorbike were opened at the Benoni Police Station.

The Benoni police are warning bikers to always ensure the safety of their motorbikes.

This comes after a number of motorbike theft cases reported at the station.

On November 11, a BMW 1200 GS motorbike was stolen in the Benoni Agricultural Holdings around 1am.

Spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said it is alleged that two men gained entry to the premises by cutting the fence.

“The motorbike was parked outside,” said Sekele.

On October 24, another BMW S1000 PR was stolen in Mackenzie Park around 4am.

Sekele said the bike was inside the garage and the alleged suspects poisoned the owner’s dog.

The motorbike was later found abounded in the Msholozi Squatter Camp.

Another BMW motorbike was stolen in October 20 in Benoni North and was recovered a week later in Mozambique.

All three cases of theft of motorbike were opened at the Benoni Police Station.

Sekele said they advise the bikers to always ensure that they lock their bikes inside the garage, especially during the night or chain the wheels of your bike if it is left outside.
