Help Benoni Rotary Club build Wattville Community Centre

The aim of the centre will be to uplift the community.

If you missed the opportunity to support Rotary Club of Benoni van Ryn at their Food and Wine Festival last weekend at Lakeside Mall, you still have time to help the club realise its goal of building a community centre in Wattville.

“We want to build the Wattville Community Centre on a piece of vacant land, and the project is estimated to cost about R120-million,” said president of the club Charmaine Cole-Niven.

Cole-Niven said the project is being done in association with the God Knows community organisation.

“The NPO will run the centre, and we will act in a supervisory capacity,” she explained.

The Food and Wine Festival, hosted on the Boat Deck at Lakeside Mall, was a success with crowds streaming through the doors to taste a variety of food, cheese and wines – a great way to celebrate South Africa winning the Rugby World Cup!

“Our next project is to assist Kids Haven with their vegetable garden in Daveyton,” Cole-Niven said.
