Mrs SA finalists host colour fun run

Davina Moodley has also hosted several events in aid of the Women4Women foundation, including community projects in Benoni, Brakpan and Bedfordview.

As the Tammy Taylor Mrs SA finalists approach the last mile to the crowning, Davina Moodley and Nonhle Temba ran their last mile, literally, on October 26 in the National Fun Run in aid of Women4Women.

The two women joined hands for their last fund-raiser, which was held at the Old Benonians Football Club in Rynfield, and carried out the cheerful spirit despite the chilly morning.

Davina is a proud Benonian while Nonhle is a Kempton Park resident, but they are the only two on the East Rand still aiming for the title at the crowning, which will be held on November 8 at Emperors Palace.

“The run was a colour fun run, arranged by the both of us with the support of the Old Benonians Football Association and Body20 Lakefield, as well as sponsors for water sachets, medals and race numbers,” Davina explained.

Despite the rain, families came out in numbers to participate in the 5km run.

Body20 Lakefield employees were present to assist in the warm-up for the run.

“We have sponsored Davina during her Tammy Taylor Mrs SA journey,” said the owner of the gym, Thea Peeters.

EMS trainer Melanie Nagel headed up the training.

“We will mobilise the joints because we need to warm up the muscles before running,” Melanie said.

The crowd took part in the 10-minute warm up before young and old left the football club for their run in the drizzle.

Davina, who is a mom to three boys, embarked on her journey in March this year.

“I feel very strongly that as women and mothers it is our duty to empower our boys to grow up into strong confident men who will know how to respect and support their strong empowered wives one day and treat them as gender equals deserving the same respect within their families, workplaces and society,” she said when she became a finalist in June.

The beaut also took a photograph with HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco.

Benoni resident and Mrs SA Tammy Taylor semi-finalist Davina Moodley stepped out in style to meet Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco at the Royal Race Day earlier this year.

Women4Women is a non-profit and public benefit organisation founded by former Miss South Africa, Cindy Nell-Roberts, which focuses on women empowerment and community upliftment.
