Failure to meet this requirement will result in the Department of Social Development (DSD) holding administrative authority over the home until the requirement is met.

It was reported that while some difficulty has been encountered in terms of finances, concerted efforts would be made to alleviate this.

Regular donors and fund-raising efforts, as well as contributions form the charity shop, were acknowledged.

Provisional financials were made available at the meeting, but were to undergo auditing.

Some of the main challenges discussed included:

• A decrease in fund-raising

• Loss of staff at short notice

• Vehicle maintenance

• Shortage of vehicles

• Building maintenance

• Lack of finances.

Future endeavours the organisation wants to include:

• Sourcing new funders and fund-raising projects

• Revising policies and procedures

• Expanding their presence in the community they serve

• Increasing public exposure via social media and the media

• Expanding their vegetable garden

• Potential to expand the Colin House

• Offer counselling services on their premises.

A low staff turnover was a positive highlight from the meeting.
