Sibikwa’s Saturday Arts Academy learners welcomed the audience with a lively isiZulu traditional dance and the Inclusive Creative Arts Programme learners offered an exciting marimba and drumming performance.

A traditional dance competition was the main attraction at the event.

Dancers, aged between six and 21, formed eight traditional dance groups.

The groups, who were also dressed traditionally, performed isiZulu, Setswana, Sesotho, isiXhosa and Sepedi traditional dance routines. They came from Mpumalanga, Gauteng and the North West province to participate in the competition.

Third place was awarded to The Undefeated Angels, from Daveyton, who performed isiXhosa traditional dance and took home two Djembe drums and R1 000.

The audience was also thrilled to see performances by special guest artists Mduduzi Mkheti and Busisiwe Nyundu, both Sibikwa alumni.

A fashion parade formed yet another highlight of the event, as participants donned their beautiful traditional wear with the audience voting for the best dressed.
