Ladies forum charity walk shines bright

Over 900 people, young and old, joined in the walk dressed in their neon colours on September 14 in Westdene, in support of the NPOs Kids Haven and Syria.

Shining bright is what the Benoni Ladies Forum (BLF) aims for when they gather to raise funds to help the community. Therefore, it was no surprise that their first Neon Charity Walk was a walk in the park, literally.

Tickets were sold for the walk, and the proceeds will be utilised for another community project by the BLF.

Sanitary items were donated by participants, which will be given to Kids Haven, and proceeds from the hand sanitisers sold will be given to Syria.

“The BLF has been in existence for 15 years,” said chairperson Amina Bhabha.

“The money raised at these events is used to fund the next event or community project.”

The women also meet at the Mary Moodley Clinic every Wednesday to give buttered bread and tea to the less fortunate.

“We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this walk a success.

“This is the first of its kind and we will be holding it annually,” Bhabha said.
