Champagne performance by the 25-year-old Campbell

The bout topped the five-fight Golden Gloves Promotions ‘Razor Sharp’ Box and Dine tournament, which featured five bouts.

South African super-middleweight boxing prospect Rowan Campbell is becoming an increasingly popular draw card at Emperors Palace.

East Rand boxing fans were treated to a champagne performance by the 25-year-old Jo’burg boxer (11-0-7 KO), who retained his IBO Africa super-middleweight title via a seventh round technical knockout victory over Patrick Mukala of the DRC.

Campbell, who has fought all his bouts at the popular gaming and entertainment resort, launched a barrage of blows to his opponents’ head and body and sensing that the tiring Mukala’s resistance was crumbling, referee Tony Nyangiwe waved it over 2 minutes 42 seconds into the round.
