“We also wanted to highlight that women should not be taken for granted.”

In light of the Women’s Month, the South African Police Service, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department and the Gauteng Traffic Police, worked together to conduct a female-dominant operation dubbed “Basadi Okae Molao”loosely translated to mean “Women, where is the law”, on Great North Road on August 8.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said 118 traffic fines to the value of R35 316 were issued during the operation, and that four illegal immigrants were arrested with one vehicle impounded on suspicion it was stolen.
