A case of business robbery was opened at the Putfontein SAPS after an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from an ATM at Mayfield Mall by a group of about eight suspects around midnight on August 6.
“The suspects stormed the Mayfield Mall and held five security guards at gunpoint, tied them up and locked them in the guard room,” said Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Raider Ubisi.

“The suspects then went on to break into three businesses, where they broke the wall of a salon and gained entry to where the ATM is situated.
“Preliminary investigations indicated that the safe was opened using a grinder, and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
“Among the eight suspects, four are believed to be minors of around 15 years old.”
