EMRIG moves things up a notch

Peddle confirmed that EMRIG is open to the public on Wednesdays from 9am to midday and on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm, with swap meets held every three months.

The Eastern Model Railway Interest Group (EMRIG) has moved to the first floor of Northmead Mall and, while their doors are open to members of the public already, an official launch date will soon be announced, this according to secretary of EMRIG Mark Peddle.

Peddle told the City Times the group, which has been in existence for over 30 years, was looking forward to the move.

“Northmead Mall has kindly given us the premises upstairs,” said Peddle.

Mark Peddle shows the City Times the new space EMRIG will occupy.

“We have been here for 10 years and the move is quite exciting.

“We are making it known that we are still here and look forward to the new developments.”

Peddle confirmed that EMRIG is open to the public on Wednesdays from 9am to midday and on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm, with swap meets held every three months.

“We are also open at other times at special requests, such as holidays, and we host a swap meet four times a year with the next one scheduled for late August.

“We encourage members of the public who have an interest in model train or even interests in general hobbies relating to models to come through and visit our interest group.

“We host the biggest model train swap meet in South Africa at the moment and we are very proud of this.”
