Police on manhunt for Etwatwa murder suspects

The motive for the killing is unknown.

Police have launched a manhunt for two men after a 27-year-old man was killed on July 1 in Etwatwa East around 5am.

Etwatwa SAPS spokesperson Capt Ramothakhi Maqabe said the deceased had just picked up his brother-in-law in Emaphupheni when his car broke down on 23rd Street, Etwatwa East.

“According to the brother-in-law, two men approached them while they were sitting in the car, they knocked on the driver’s window and asked for a lift,” said Maqabe.

“As the deceased was about to respond to the two men, one of them produced a sharp object and stabbed him in the neck.”

The two men fled the scene with a cellphone.

Maqabe said the deceased died on scene and the brother-in-law was not injured.

The motive for the killing is unknown.

Police urge anyone with information that can assist with the investigation to visit their nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Maqabe added that residents can remain anonymous and all information will be treated as confidential.

The station commander, Col Molatelo Maoto, has condemned the killing.
