Possible erection of cell mast a concern to resident

However, he is not sure that it will actually happen as there is “nothing concrete” at the moment.

Rynfield resident Gerry Kramer is objecting to the possible erection of a cellular mast in Davey Street.

Kramer believes the value of homes in the area will decrease if the mast goes up and is questioning whether the company is adhering to the terms of the Ekurhuleni Municipality Cellular Mast Policy 2013, which prescribes that adjacent property owners be informed and granted the opportunity to comment on the proposed project.

According to Kramer, he was the only one who received the notice from Vukani Infustracture Planning Services Inc, in March, informing residents that they will be applying for building plan approval for a cellular mast from the Ekurhuleni metro.

In a letter to Vukani, he requested the names and addresses of residents who received registered letters and the dates on which they were posted but has not received any feedback.

The owner of a business on which the cellular mast will be built, Steven van Harn, confirmed that documents have been signed and he has granted permission for the cellular mast to be erected on his property.

“I do not have a problem with residents objecting to the cellular mast but an objection should be done in the right manner,” said van Harn.

No comment was received from the metro at the time of going to print.
