Learners march to raise awareness of Child Protection Week

The organisation welcomes donations of stationery, toiletries, toys, reading books, children's clothes and school bags.

Daveyton community-based organisation Sekusile Ekhaya Labantwana and learners from Katlego Primary School held a Child Protection Awareness, coinciding with Child Protection Week (June 2-9), recently.

The organisation provides basic necessities to orphans and vulnerable children in Daveyton, Chris Hani, Gabon, Mkhalazenke and Mayfield.

Busisiwe Sibeko of Sekusile Ekhaya Labantwana said it takes a community to raise a child.

“The rate of rape, missing children, child abuse, child trafficking and bullying is very high in our communities and parents, family members, neighbours and communities need to love and protect children as they are the leaders of tomorrow,” said Sibeko.

On the day, the children participated in different activities and they received lunch.

Learners of Katlego Primary School and with Sekusile Ekhaya Labantwana took to the streets on May 29 to raise awareness of the importance of protecting children.

The organisation welcomes donations of stationery, toiletries, toys, reading books, children’s clothes and school bags.

Donations can be dropped off at 8216 Ratale Street, Daveyton, or call Sibeko on 071 612 8378.
