One person was shot dead and another injured following a shoot-out at the corner of Bunyan Street and Elston Avenue, Benoni CBD, on May 21 around 9.50pm.
Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said an on-duty officer was stopped by a community member who told him about a man who was shot.

“When police went to the scene, they found one of the men lying on the pavement,” said Sekele.
“The other man managed to run to the nearest hospital.”
A case of murder and attempted murder was opened at the Benoni SAPS.
The motive of the killing is unknown.
No arrests have been made, police are investigating.
