Benoni residents grace television screens for 13 weeks

Drama-mammas airs every Wednesday on VIA channel 147 at 9.30pm.

Benoni High School learner Caitlin Arries (18) has landed herself and her mom, Cell Arries, a spot on the new VIA TV show Drama-mammas, which aired for the first time on May 15.

On the 13-week show, these Farrarmere residents and three other high school learners and their mothers go to Broadway South Africa Camp where they participate in various drama competitions around Johannesburg. Two scouts from America will be watching them to see which one of the learners will be invited to Atlanta, Georgia, USA, for a three-week internship at the Serenbe Playhouse.

Caitlin started attending drama classes in Grade Two and her mother, a Farrarmere Primary School teacher, said she has always been a drama queen from the day she was born; when other children wanted dolls she wanted make-up and a microphone.

“She is very dominant and knows what she wants,” Cell said.
