His mother Anna died on January 31, 1971, in Zambia.

Jaani Hachibone Mudenda (74), of Zambia, is looking for relatives of his late mother, Anna Meerie, a South African national from the Benoni area.

Anna married Ivan Mizinga Muchimba, a Zambian national, between the mid-1940s and early 1960s when he was working as a motor mechanic at “Louis Garage”.

Anna died on January 31, 1971, in Zambia.

Jaani, as he is known by his mother’s relatives, was the couple’s first-born son, born on June, 25, 1944, at a hospital in Johannesburg.

His younger brother Daniel was also born at the same hospital.

His other siblings are Rebecca, Joseph, Isaih, Louis, Arethah and Christine Mudenda.

In the early 1950s, Jaani’s father took him and Daniel to Zambia to start their schooling.

Jaani’s father, Ivan Mizinga Muchimba.

“The reason I am looking for my mother’s relatives is that my siblings now have families and I would love for all of us to know each other and for them to visit us in Zambia,” Jaani explained.

“After the death of my mother, my father came to Benoni to report the death to the elders.

“The elders in Benoni chose another wife for him to help raise the eight children left behind.”

Jaani’s stepmother is Johanna Kemone Mizinga and her three children are Peter, Eveline and Deliana Mudenda.

Jaani said, however, something went wrong between Ivan and Johanna.

“Johanna then returned to South Africa, leaving her children in my care,” he said.

“At the time, I was able to take care of my ten siblings as I was teacher and he could afford to pay for their education.”

He added that a trip was planned for one of his siblings to come to Benoni to find their mother’s relatives, however, their father got sick and died before the trip could happen.

“We were left without any connection to our grandparents, aunts or uncles who live in Benoni,” Jaani said.

His father left a few addresses which could help him locate his mother’s relatives, one of which is under the name Susie Openshaw, Sarah Lou flats, Harpur Avenue, Benoni.

Anyone with information which can assist Jaani can Whatsapp him on +260977792377 or email jaanihachibone@yahoo.com
