Retirement village celebrates residents’ birthdays
The oldest residents were James van Blerk (92), Susan Driegaardt (91) and Esmé Beamish (89).
Village Walk Retirement Estate held birthday celebrations for 49 residents born in January to March on April 3 at their premises in Benoni North AH.
The birthday celebration was for residents who are 80 years old and over.

The manager, Isabella Carstens, said this was the first celebration held for the residents and they plan to do the celebrations every three months.
Carstens wished the residents a happy birthday and reflected on some of world memorial events from 1939.

Van Blerk said his secret to living longer is to be friendly to everyone, spread love, exercise and eat healthy.
The residents enjoyed tea and snacks.
