Husband arrested for assault in Putfontein

The man is expected to appear in court soon.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) on December 9 in Putfontein.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube said it is alleged the man assaulted his wife at her house in Bagdad informal settlement.

“According to the victim, her husband came home drunk and accused her of cheating and said he was going to teach her a lesson,” said Ramaube.

“When the woman tried to run away, the husband grabbed her and beat her up.”

Ramaube said the wife was rescued by one of the neighbours who called the police.

The man was arrested and a case of assault GBH was opened at the Putfontein Police Station.
