Ford donates two vehicles to local child-care organisations
The retail value of all the vehicles donated is just over R12-million.
Benoni’s Kids Haven and Rearabilwe Ekurhuleni Community Care were recently the recipients of brand new vehicles from Ford.
As part of their initiative to spread the cheer during the festive season, the vehicle company has donated a total of 26 new vehicles to 22 selected charity organisations in South Africa.
A Transit van and Tourneo custom minibus were donated to the Benoni charities at Casseys Auto Benoni Ford, with Rearabilwe receiving their first-ever vehicle.
Assistant director of Kids Haven and chairperson of the board Sam Mokgopha said what the company was doing for the community of Benoni was important. It was adding value and is a means of upliftment for the children at the organisation.

“We are very grateful for the donation. We would also like to extend a vote of thanks to Mamas Alliance as they, together with Ford, made this donation possible,” said Mokgopha.
German More of Mamas Alliance, present at the handover, explained the organisation assisted other child-care organisations with corporate social investment (CSI) projects.
“We’re a CSI agency,” said More.
“At present, we provide support to 30 non-governmental organisations like Kids Haven and Rearabilwe.
“We connect with companies like Ford and bring to their attention these child-care organisations and facilitate the process.”
Programme director of Rearabilwe Ekurhuleni Community Care Happiness Mabunda was elated to receive the organisation’s first vehicle.
“We really appreciate the gesture,” said Mabunda.
“We have been answered and we know this is going to make a positive difference in the lives of those we provide care and support to.”
Mabunda said the centre works with orphans and vulnerable children in the Daveyton and Tsakane areas.
Duduzile Nxele, corporate communications manager of Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa, said South Africa is a road-based economy, making vehicle ownership a key factor in order to deliver the services needed to advance the country’s economy and improve the quality of life of all people.
“We are very proud that Ford is able to help the selected charity organisations go further in providing the selfless services they do,” she said.
Other recipients in Gauteng include Save the Children and SOS Children’s Villages South Africa, Action for Blind and Disabled Children, Tomorrow Today Foundation, as well as the Tshwane SPCA.
