Good, clean handball at Sinaba Stadium

What better way to learn about the environment than through sport?

The Play Handball Supercup came to Daveyton’s Sinaba Stadium on October 20.

It is the first handball and environmental tournament series in South Africa.

Hosted by Play Handball ZA, teams competed in an u-14 mixed-team tournament as well as performed various environmental tasks on the day.

The aim of the Play Handball Supercup series is to reach out through sport to the youth, bringing children from various schools and cultural backgrounds together and to enhance environmental awareness among the youth in combination with playing handball.

Special emphasis is placed on educating young South Africans to live more sustainably and environmentally responsible within their communities.

Teachers and coaches are first empowered with a workshop in handball coaching and environmental issues.

Educational modules include information on how to use resources such as water and energy more wisely and how to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.

Over 150 children played handball on the day.
