Boksburg/Benoni Primary Schools Tennis League serves up serious talent

The sport is showing good signs of growth.

The Boksburg/Benoni Primary Schools Tennis League season ended with a prize-giving at the Gauteng East Complex recently.

The 2018 league had 154 players entered from 13 schools with 33 teams having played in the A, B, C and D leagues.

Gauteng East Tennis Association (GETA) president Ken Smith’s vision is for all leagues in the Gauteng East area to be affiliated to the Gauteng East provincial body and for schools’ tennis to develop and improve.

League organisers Desiré Wilson and Carlouw Thompson are excited about how the league has grown in their second year of running the league.

Their goal is to have a professional, well-run league.

They would like to see more interest from the schools in tennis and more schools in the Boksburg/Benoni area to play in the Gauteng East affiliated league.
