Etwatwa man arrested for fraud

The man was arrested and detained at the Etwatwa Police Station.

A 29-year-old man was arrested for fraud after he was found with illegal electricity vouchers at Zambeni Street, Etwatwa on September 10.

The man was arrested during a stop and search in the area.

Etwatwa SAPS spokesperson Captain Ramothakhi Maqabe said when police stopped the man and his friend, they ran into a nearby house.

“Police chased after them and they found them at the house,” said Maqabe.

“When police searched the alleged suspect they found him with the electricity vouchers, a register book and an undisclosed amount of money.”

Maqabe said when the man was asked where he got the vouchers he failed to give a valid explanation.

He was then arrested and detained at the Etwatwa Police Station.
