Daveyton NPO donates school shoes

Lending a helping hand to those in need.

Daveyton based non-profit organisation #GivingBack is appealing to the community to help them collect over 200 pairs of school shoes to be donated to underprivileged learners in the area.

The organisation, founded in 2014, is dedicated to helping those in need, with the objective of achieving community upliftment.

Founder of the organisation Siphiwe Mkhwanazi said this is the second year of their taking on a child project, which raises funds to buy school shoes and jerseys for learners who are less fortunate.

In July, the team donated 77 pairs of school schools and socks to the learners at Nqubela Primary School and last year they donated 36 school jerseys, 38 pairs of school shoes and socks to learners at Kuzimisela Primary School.

Mkhwanazi said they would appreciate a helping hand from the community and businesses.

“It doesn’t have to a monetary donation, people can also support us by attending our fund-raising events,” said Mkhwanazi.

“It’s so fulfilling seeing a child who didn’t have school shoes wearing new shoes and be confident around other children.

“At a school, recently, a little boy literally ran to me, hugged me and whispered thank you – and promised to be on his best behaviour at school.”
