Benoni SPCA inspector to take on new role in Brakpan

Bodasing was with the Benoni SPCA for almost two years

Inspector Shiven Bodasing will be leaving the Benoni SPCA to join the Brakpan SPCA as manager in September.

Bodasing, who joined the Benoni team in November 2016, began his SPCA career as a cadet inspector.

After completing an inspector training course he obtained his inspector qualification.

The course, which Benoni SPCA manager Vicky Finnemore said can take up to two years to complete, was successfully completed by Bodasing in nine months.

By October last year Bodasing was deemed a qualified inspector.

He said while it was sad to be leaving Benoni; he hoped to make a difference for animals that are potentially being abused or mistreated in Brakpan.

Finnemore said the Benoni SPCA wished Bodasing well on his future prospects in his new role.

When Bodasing leaves the SPCA will be left with three training inspectors (cadets) and one senior inspector (Finnemore).

“Two of our cadets will be completing the inspector training course to become qualified inspectors by the end of the year,” Finnemore said.

Bodasing said he is excited about the new role but also sad to leave the Benoni community.

“I’ll be heading up Brakpan in the hope of making improvements.”

Bodasing, who has always had a love for the law, is currently studying for an advanced diploma in metropolitan policing and traffic signs.
