“You are worth it” was the term constantly used at Belvedere School on August 13 to the young girls who learnt about the importance of their bodies.
Staff members from Clicks in Farrarmere visited the school to hand out about 400 sanitary pads to the Year Three, Four and Grade 10, 11 and 12 girls.
There were about 120 girls who gathered in the gym hall to listen to past learner Candice Hewitt and pharmacy assistant Lesego Tau talk about the importance of self-respect and respecting others.

Hewitt said her mother died two years ago and she has nobody but her grandmother.
“If you have a female influence in your life and you fought with her, make it right,” Hewitt said.
“Tell her she is worth it, just like you are.”
Tau explained to the youngsters that sexual intercourse may seem like fun, but there are consequences to every action.
“The morning-after pill was never created as a contraceptive, it was created for unfortunate situations where a girl was a victim of rape,” she explained
“Abuse of this kind of pill can result in fertility issues.”
She also emphasised the reality of having only one body.
“You have one body, if you mess it up, there is no second chance for it,” she said.
The youngsters took as many sanitary pads as they wanted and the remainder will be kept at the school for those in need when they need it.
“This is our third visit to the school this year,” said Clicks Farrarmere store manager, Julia Tshabalala.
