Princess Charlene returns to her second home – Benoni
The princess was full of giggles and so welcoming to those who attended.
“Everyone has a sense of pride that you don’t just come from South Africa, but you come from Benoni,” was the statement made about Princess Charlene of Monaco who never forgot her roots.
Bob Yearham from Group Gaming and VIP operations executive, Peermont, concluded the event but left it with such a strong statement that it qualified to be the opening statement of this article.
A number of compliments were sent the princess’s way on Wednesday (July 11) at the high tea event held at Emperors Palace.
The princess returned to her roots nearing Mandela Day (July 18) and will be visiting several orphanages in Benoni to commemorate the day.
“We need to keep his legacy alive,” the princess said.
Princess Charlene met with several media outlets and was thanked by representatives of several charities who were present and reap the benefit of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.
Lavinia Crawford-Browne, who is involved at the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation, also shared a few words of gratitude at the tea.
“You have made South Africans proud,” she said.
“We appreciate how you have not forgotten your roots.
“We wish you love joy and happiness.”
Dawie Crous from F&R Crous Foundation said he is reminded of a quote which says: ‘the future belongs to those who do good’.
Princess Charlene then took to the stage to explain the reasoning behind her visit.
“I want to meet with the elders and listen to Nelson Mandela’s lectures,” she said.
“I am returning in February for the water bike challenge.”
As Yearham concluded, he thanked the princess for fulfilling her duty not only because it is required, but because it comes from her heart to help.
“We hope to host you for many more years,” he said.
The princess then took photos and enjoyed some coffee as she interacted with those invited.

In an interview with the City Times, Charlene is what we would describe as friendly and full of giggles.
The City Times asked her where she would live if she returned to Benoni, to which she responded: “Definitely near the bunny park.”
“I love animals so much.”
She also visits Benoni frequently because her family resides in the area.
“Benoni is home and is familiar to me and I will always come back,” she said.
Overall, the princess enjoys her time in Benoni and it is evident that you can take her out of Benoni, but you cannot take Benoni out of her heart.
