Police units make new friends at Oliver’s House
The event kicked off with a Flying Squad vehicle with flashing blue lights and sirens driving into the display ground.
Several police services gathered at Oliver’s House earlier this month to build relationships and empower the youth.
Members of the SAPS Mounted Unit, Benoni Flying Squad, Water Wing and the K9 unit visited the premises in Putfontein to make children aware of their rights.

“Too many crimes, especially against children, go unreported due to ignorance and fear of the police, but children need to be aware of abuse and the right to report incidents,” said Benoni Flying Squad spokesperson WO Grant Giblin.
The event kicked off with a Flying Squad vehicle with flashing blue lights and sirens driving into the display ground.
“About 120 children, aged between two and five, had the opportunity to interact with the police at the event,” Giblin explained.
“The horses and dogs were fondly appreciated by the children, while the Water Wing’s boat was keenly investigated too.”
After the kids enjoyed themselves, the community was also invited to interact with the police members and was then addressed by Putfontein SAPS members and social workers.
The police urge the community to report crime to their nearest police station or 10111.
