Sasolburg stump Northerns rugby boys again

A double dose of defeats at home for the Benoni boys.

After heavy defeats to Nigel a fortnight prior, Benoni Northerns Rugby Club’s (BNRC) first and second teams were aiming to return to Valke Rugby Union Merlin League winning ways when they hosted Sasolburg at Northern Areas on June 16.

It was not to be for BNRC though as both sides found themselves on the wrong side of losing score lines.

The second side put up the better of the fights, going down 25-17 in a closely contested clash.

They had a chance to win the match from the last kick-off, but Sasolburg turned the tables to score what would be the winning try in the dying seconds.

The first team match was played at a high pace, but the Sasolburg opponents proved too strong for the Northerns boys who were defeated 56-31.

The BNRC teams will have a bye this weekend.
