The Actonville police arrested a 30-year-old suspect hours after a housebreaking in Wattville on May 29.
The man was arrested in Dube Street at around noon.
Capt Pheello Mothapo, Actonville SAPS spokesperson, said it is alleged the suspect broke into a shack and stole a television, an Ipad and two cellphones.
“A man who witnessed the incident reported the matter to the police and gave a description of the suspect,” said Mothapo.
“The Actonville SAPS members, while on patrol in the area, spotted him in a taxi and stopped the vehicle.”
The suspect was found in possession of suspected stolen items.
A case of housebreaking and theft was opened at the Actonville Police Station.
The suspect is due to appear at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
