Life in jail for Daveyton shooter

The man is serving his sentence at the Modderbee Prison.

Sboniso Norotte was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and attempted murder on May 29 in the Benoni Regional Court.

Norotte was also sentenced for robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawfully discharging a firearm.

On March 22, 2014, the 25-year-old randomly fired shots in Eiselen Street, Daveyton, killing a man and injuring two other people.

“He was released on bail and fled to the Eastern Cape, where he was rearrested in 2016,” said Mngomezulu.

Norotte was convicted on March 26.
