A Northmead couple took things into their own hands by recently jumping in and cleaning up a park across the road from their home in Ugie Street, where long grass, litter and vagrants have been an eyesore.

Using a small tractor mower, Hein and Aletta Pieters, with the help of some hired hands, mowed the grass and then cleared the cut grass away, raked the roadsides and cleaned up litter.
