BCT: Tell us about your love for sport

KC: I started loving sport because of the thrill and adrenaline it offers me. I imagine playing in a tournament final and at the last minute receiving a penalty that could possibly win the match, which is the kind of adrenaline I feel when playing sport. Also, sports keep your body healthy and fit.

BCT: Tell us about your career

KC: I am a sports coach. I coach football through Soccerstars (Monday to Friday), cricket at Wordsworth High School (every Thursday) and also run an advanced football programme called Euro Soccer Schools on Saturdays. Sport has played an immense role in the person I am today. It gave me certain attributes that cannot be thought in a classroom. I strive to pass the same attributes to each my learners.

BCT: Tell us about Euro Soccer Schools

KC: It is an advanced football programme in Johannesburg and Pretoria. We have over 10 franchises, with our Benoni academy being our most recent. We launched ESS-Benoni late last year and are grateful to see the growth from month to month. I am grateful to all the coaches who assist every Saturday to make this a success – Callum Floyd, Craig Engelbrecht, Silverster Makoasha and Mike Goldstone. Also, to Wordsworth High School for letting us use their grounds.

BCT: Tell us about yourself

KC: I grew up in Durban and then relocated to Benoni when I was five years old. I attended Smiley Kids during my nursery phase, Tom Newby Primary until Grade Four and then Summerfields Primary. I matriculated in 2013 from Wordsworth High. I stay with my parents, Ayesha and Lazarus Chetty, and my younger sister, Kayleen, who attends Tom Newby Primary.

BCT: What are your future plans?

KC: I intend to study further within the sports industry. I have obtained a South Africa Football Association (Safa) D licence and would like to progress to an A licence.
