Donation of computers to boost skills

This was done to raise awareness of the chronic condition.

Pinnacle Africa and the Bongi Ngema-Zuma Foundation donated 15 computers to the Oliver’s House Skills Development Centre in Putfontein on May 9.

“This is the first centre we’ve donated computers to in Ekurhuleni,” said Ngema-Zuma.

“We did this to empower the centre, especially if it means it also empowers the community.”

Ngema-Zuma said the foundation will adopt the centre and work with other sponsors to ensure that the centre has the resources that it may need to succeed and make an impact on the community as a whole.

Lola Wortley, the director of Oliver’s Village, said they are very appreciative of the donation.

“The centre runs a computer class for 30 students and with the additional computers, they can have another class to accommodate more students.

“The plan is to expand our introduction computer courses to intermediate and advanced courses,” she said.

Apart from the handover, the foundation also held diabetes screenings for community members.

This was done to raise awareness of the chronic condition.

“Diabetes does not discriminate; children can also be diagnosed with diabetes,” said Ngema-Zuma.

Ngema-Zuma said it was important to educate people and to instil a healthy lifestyle from an early age.
