Body of baby found near primary school

No one has been arrested.

A case of concealment of birth was opened after a new baby was found inside a red box wrapped in chiffon at Chief Albert Luthuli Extension Six on May 8.

The baby was found in an open veld next to Chief Albert Luthuli Primary School around 9am.

Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Const Itumeleng Maduna said the baby was found by a resident who allegedly saw the dumped box and he became suspicious of what was inside the box.

“The resident then went to look and contacted the police,” said Maduna.

Maduna added that the paramedics declared the baby dead on the scene.

No one has been arrested in connection with the crime.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
