Fire department goes the extra mile in Northmead

Paul, Stacey and Sinjin Farrance, of Northmead, write:

On December 30 one of the trees on our pavement fell across our driveway in Hanekam Street, blocking the entrance to our home.

It would ordinarily be a matter that the municipality could attend to, but because of the time of year, we were not able to get anyone from the municipality to help us.

My husband and I tried towing the huge tree with our vehicles, but to no avail.

I then approached the Farrarmere Fire Station for assistance and they were most obliging.

Within no time we had a fire truck and the whole team from ‘D Shift’ with chainsaws and brooms clearing away the fallen tree.

We live in a society where people are quick to complain, but this time around it’s an acknowledgement to the fire department team for really going the extra mile.
