The incident occurred on November 26 at a tavern in Mogoba Extension Seven, Putfontein.
Putfontein SAPS spokesperson, Const Justice Ramaube said according to witnesses there was a quarrel between the two women over a bottle of beer and change.
“It is alleged that the deceased was hit twice in the head with a bottle,” said Ramaube.
“However, the alleged suspect took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the woman on her lower body.”
Paramedics declared the woman dead on the scene.
A case of murder was opened at Putfontein Police Station.
The suspect will appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
