Actonville Spurs still winless in league

Things haven’t been going too sweetly in the Eastern Premier League for local outfit Actonville Spurs Cricket Club (ASCC).

Following recent defeats to Bedfordview and Benoni Northerns, the team were again on the losing end on November 12.

This time, coach Thomas Pekane’s men travelled to Prince George Park in Boksburg to take on Boksburg Cricket Club.

Batting first, Actonville’s Saahil Khan (33) and CJ van der Walt (35) provided the only real impetus with the willow as the visitors were bowled out for 141 runs in 37.3 overs.

With the ball, van der Walt (2/36 in 10 overs) achieved the best figures of the Actonville bowlers.

Boksburg, however, chased down the score in 34.4 overs with four wickets in hand to spoil their guests’ Sunday.

ASCC will be searching for their first league win when they host CBC Old Boys at Lords Cricket Grounds in Actonville on November 19.
