Bosman is progressing well

Casey Bosman (16) continues to make her mark at duathlon and middle distance running events.

The Benoni High School learner, who trains under the watchful eye of Glen van der Westhuizen at Benoni High Athletic Club, is a triple champion.

Since winning the u-15 South African Cross-Country Championship last year, the young athlete has progressed in leaps and bounds.

She recently placed first at the South African Duathlon Championships (run, cycle, run) and then won the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Club Championships and the South African School Athletic Championships.

At the ASA Club Championships Bosman beat four Protea athletes.

She also recently finished a mere 21 seconds behind 21km national athlete Anronica Mokgotla at the Harrismith Mountain Race in the 15km women’s race.

Her displays have attracted some attention lately in the athletics fraternity. She also recently signed up with Endurocad, the distance running and endurance sports academy which partners and works with the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) and Stellenbosch Sports Academy (SAS).

It offers a complete suite of services to support and professionally manage world-class distance runners.

South African running legend Elana Meyer is an ambassador for the academy.

Bosman hopes to participate in the African Cross Championships in Lagos, Nigeria next year and aims to win a senior South African title for athletics.

Her dream is to represent her country at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Bosman is also hard at work in the classroom with the hopes of attracting a scholarship to the prestigious University of Arkansas in the USA.
