Community is uplifted in Actonville

Actonville Primary School hosted the Community Heart and Soul Initiative on October 14.

It has been running for about four years with the aim to improve the standard of living within the community.

Zinhle Radebe and Tintswalo Mashele assisted at the teen wellness therapy rooms.

Various organisations have offered their time and support for the cause on a purely voluntary basis.

“This is done to equip people to deal with life issues, health, social development and finance,” said Sahista.

Classrooms were turned into therapy rooms directed at tackling issues such as substance abuse, guidance and counselling, parental guidance, youth development, health wellness and fitness, spiritual well being, legal and financial advice as well as safety and security.

The day also included recreational activities such as soccer and dancing to promote youth development.

Guests who attended the event were given breakfast and lunch.

“We are fortunate and blessed to have so many professionals help us for free today,” said Venessa Moodley, principal of Actonville Primary School.

Ward 29 Clr Haseena Ismail was present on the day to show support for the initiative.

“This is a fantastic initiative and the perfect platform to address issues relating to mental and physical health,” said Ismail.

“It’s a great way to reach out to the community and show them that we care.”
