The first robbery occurred at the business on September 6.
Capt Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said just after the store was robbed, the two male robbers tried to flee in a Toyota Corolla.
“When they were about to leave, a truck unintentionally blocked their exit, so they abandoned the car,” said Sekele.
Inside the car, police found an ID, CV and passport believed to belong to one of the robbers.
She said the vehicle was not stolen.
Armed with this information, Sekele said, Benoni police visited three addresses where one of the suspects was believed to be living, but they could not find anything.
However, according to Sekele, they will be effecting an arrest “very soon”.
On October 15, the same store was robbed again, also by two men.
The spokesperson said police are investigating whether the same people who were involved in the first case are responsible for the second.
