Man shot in Northmead house robbery

A man was shot in a house robbery in Northmead this morning (October 20).

The incident happened on Dingwall Street at about 2.30am.

Const Zama Madonda, Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said the complainant in the case was asleep with his partner when two armed men entered their abode with firearms.

They were held up.

It’s unclear at this stage whether the couple were asleep in the flatlet on the property.

Madonda said one of the men fired a round. The gunmen stole a laptop and wallet from the complainant.

The spokesperson said after the men left the unit where they had held the couple up, the complainant heard gunshots.

When he went outside, he found that his father had been shot.

The man was hospitalised and his condition is not known at this stage.

A case of house robbery has been opened.

No arrests have been made.
