A case of rape was opened at the Crystal Park SAPS following the learner’s arrest on the same day.
He was later released into his parents’ care.
Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said it is alleged that learners organised a farewell function at a park.
“The suspect, who resides next to the park, allegedly offered the victim (Grade Eight) to utilise the toilet at his house,” said Mabona.
“The victim (Grade Eight) was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
“Subsequently, the boy allegedly raped the girl learner.”
The department has launched an investigation into claims that the same boy had raped two other girls.
Counselling is being offered to both affected learners and will continue accordingly.
At the time of publishing, no response had been received from Crystal Park SAPS.
