The incident occurred on October 15 at about 7.30pm.
Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said the girl was sent by her older sister, to a tuck shop.
“After a while, the sister realised that the child was taking longer than expected,” said Sekele.
“The sister went looking for the child, but couldn’t find her around the tuck shop.”
Sekele added that the child returned a few hours later.
“When her sister asked her where she had been, the girl said she came across a man who said that he would take her to another tuck shop which sells achar,” said Sekele.
The man then took the child to his shack and raped her.
No arrests have been made.
Police urge anyone with information to come forward or contact 10111.
