“I want to empower and grow other people – my colleagues as well as my learners,” she said.

“I find joy in watching people I work with develop and grow.”

Vania describes her appointment as humbling and she is grateful to the All Mighty.

“Success comes through hard work and prayers. It’s not about being lucky or being entitled,” she said.

She also gives credit to her family and her colleagues for being there for her.

“Leadership is taking people on your journey. I want to be an agent of change to the school,” she said.

The accounting and business studies teacher teaches learners from Grade Eight to 12.

When she is not teaching or conducting educational workshops, she enjoys gardening.

“When you feel the Earth, you feel grounded and humbled.”

Vania emphasises respect as a vital part of her career.

“We need to embrace inclusivity and diversity,” she said.

“You always need to lead by example.”
